As the owner of this Site, I applaud the desire for users to be aware of how their data is being used by any site visited or from which a purchase is made. Sharon's Vintage Jewelry has from its inception attempted to greatly limit the accumulation and use of any data other than what is needed to fulfill orders.
The only circumstances in which I will share your data are in processing your order or complying with the law. I will never use or pass on your information to third parties for marketing purposes or any other purpose, other than the circumstances listed below, or add you to any mailing list without your explicit consent. This Site does not use any third-party email response companies, such as MailChimp, nor does it place any cookies on your computer for remarketing purposes (which many sites, such as Facebook and Google, routinely use.)
The circumstances in which we may share your data are:
• With delivery companies to fulfill your order (for example, Shipping Easy and/or USPS).
• To comply with legal or tax obligations.
• Sometimes the Site uses third-party analytics providers (such as Google Analytics) to help us understand how people are using the site. These providers may place cookies on your computer/phone. However, no information we receive from them contains individual buyers names or identity.
Our payment processors (Shopify Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay and credit card companies, etc.) pass to us only limited information which is required to fulfill your order, and this information does not include your credit card number. These companies have their own privacy policies which can be accessed through their individual sites.
I will only retain your details for as long as necessary in order to process the transaction and thereafter will securely store any data collected during that period. Personal data related to orders is held for three years (a requirement of the IRS). After that time your data will be deleted from my records.
You have the right to know what personal data I hold about you, and to ask for that data to be changed or deleted. Although your data will need to be held by me for three years (IRS rule), you can request that your personal information be deleted from the website host, Shopify.com.
Shopify encrypts data sent to and from merchants and buyers using the HTTPS protocol.
When processing a request for erasure, Shopify will anonymise the personal data of the buyer, but keep non-personal data such as revenue information and order details. Order details that are retained include the gateway used to process payment, time of sale, amount paid, currency, subtotal, shipping cost, taxes added, shipping method, item quantity, item name, SKU, and payment method.
Personal data cannot be erased from Shopify while it is:
• Associated with a pending order
• Associated with an order made fewer than 180 days before the request (the usual window in which a buyer can make a chargeback).
If the buyer’s personal data cannot be erased for this reason, the buyer or merchant should re-submit the deletion request after the appropriate time has passed.
If no data erasure requests are received, Shopify will keep data for the lifetime of a store, and purge personal data within 90 days after a store is closed.
• Cookie activity strictly necessary for the functioning of the service:
• Activity regarding the saving of preferences, optimization, and statistics
Depending on your browser settings, these cookies may remain on your computer for a certain length of time, so if you return to the Site the preferences are remembered. Also, for a certain length of time, items you've placed in the cart will still show.
